Our Destinations Bordeaux & Cognac

Bordeaux lives and breates wine. The region’s history in unseparable from the grape wines. It was the Romans who brought the wine here in the beginning of our time. Since then Vandals, Visigoths, Franks, Vikings and Englishmen have come and gone, but the vines still stand.

When you visit the most famous vineyard it would be a shame to not pay a visit to the wine castles to taste the different wines and maybe buy a bottle or two for the wine collection at home. Choose among the wine districts, there are not less than 57 different classifications!

The fifth city of France is a grand old beauty crossed by the Garonne river. The historical architecture has placed it on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Old and new are blended in an exciting mix. As every university town Bordeaux is full of young people that make things happen and make the nightlife one of the most interesting in France.

South east of France is a rich gastronomical region. There are uncountable specialities with foie gras and duck in the leading roles. The Atlantic coast is only one hour away with several oyster farms where you can enjoy the ocean treasures with a glass of chilled white wine. The more adventurous will find world class surfing possibilities.

If you take the road and head north from Bordeaux you will after one hour arrive in Cognac. This small town, unforunately often forgotten, is filled with history and is the birth town of a king ! 1494 François I was born at Château de Cognac (nowadays a famous cognac house). He did much for the renaissance and transformed the Louvre in Paris from a fortification to a Renaissance castle…

You can visit several cognac houses that will be happy to share their love to the golden beverage. Santé !
